What’s the best way to store fresh mushrooms?

Fresh mushrooms should be stored in your refrigerator until you’re ready to use them.  Several methods exist for storing mushrooms within the fridge, but here’s what we recommend:

  1. Keep mushrooms whole for best shelf life - sliced or chopped mushrooms won’t last nearly as long.
  2. Fresh mushrooms are delicate, do not store anything on top of them or keep them in a drawer where other food can bump them.
  3. Wrap them in a paper bag or paper towels to keep them from absorbing too much moisture.
  4. We recommend eating mushrooms as soon as possible, the fresher they are the better!  However they can last longer than a week in your fridge, depending on how humid it is inside.
